//crawling out of my grave bloodied and battered and bruised like a real zombie flick–

I hope everyone’s having a fantastic Halloween season! Its pretty wet, cold and rainy here which is the complete opposite of the struggles our Augustine cast & crew have to face on the regular (though Summer did have its death grip on us this year and we were still getting pretty hot weather well into the beginning of October–we’re trying not to think or panic too hard about what that implies exactly).

ANYWAY. I DID say I’d be back here (hi its me Hivver) to kind of give you all a little update on our progress with Augustine because now I have a very perfect and pristine place to do that! How convenient!

SO–Harpy’s new graphic novel: FANGS AND ALL (originally The Curse of Blackwood Manor) is getting pretty close to completion. As some of you might know a lot of our general comics process involves: Harpy sketching, Hivver inking, Harpy colouring– well I’ve just finished up (most) of my inking. The big bulk work is done. I’m just palling around until I get roped into inks for the cover and whatnot.

Which is all VERY EXCITING and when we get a little closer to tHAT deadline and a proper cover reveal I can tell you all a bit more about it bUT FOR NOW that’s not why we’re here. Actually I have quite enough things to ramble on about so lets dig in!

WEBTOON

Ohgod what could this possibly mean…. (you may be thinking to yourselves). Fret not. I’m actually working on a bit of a way to mirror Augustine over on Webtoon. Seeing as we’re emancipated from Hiveworks almost entirely now. We’re looking at ways to get a few other folks looking at our comic filled with funky little guys. We’re still going to prioritise posting here because we put a lot of effort into this page and getting it to look and feel just right~

We’ll let you know once the page is up and ready, go ahead and give it a follow if Webtoon is your preferred way to read comics (or if you just want to help us out with a little follow of a boost). I’ll be honest…. these pages are likely going to have a “FLIP YOUR PHONE” graphic and all the pages are going to be prioritised for a side-ways scroll on mobile format with those reading this thing on desktop encouraged to come check out the website.

IS IT GONNA WORK??? IDK. I’m hoping. It’s been a challenging year for us to even be excited about our work what with all the bumps we had along the way but we’re gonna try and grow our audience just a little bit more. Fingers crossed and all that.

TRANSLATION

Allo mes amis francophones! On va commencer a traduire les pages de Augustine en Français yahoo! Ca va être…. euh… juste moi et non un traducteur proffessionel mais j’ai pas d’argent so too bad. Soyez gentils. J’essaye de mon mieux…. et bon, je pense que c’a va aller.

Aux moins ça va me faire pratiquer. Soyez pas trop timide de me corriger. Mais juste un petit reminder: je suis Quebecois, alors, ça va être un peut plus crunchy ET plus façile pour moi.

TL;DR for the Anglos out there: I’m gonna be single-handedly translating Augustine in French!! Be nice to meeeee! I’m doing my best but I always welcome feedback and corrections… so long as you keep it polite.

We’re gonna start with an online translation and then once Chapter 3 is done we’ll do a printed edition of Book 1: The Moon in both English & French.

BUT THAT’S not for a while now! So we’ll update as we go~!

VOLUME 2 PRINT RUN

Okay so I definitely MEANT to get to this run way sooner than this…. we’re just… so broke lol. A print run like V1 for Chapter 1 put us in the hole and now with tariffs and the run-around we’re having to do with this Theropod Card Deck campaign…. and it costing us way more than we budgeted….and still waiting on our publisher to uh… pay us…

Lets just say this ones been pushed around a little bit. We’re hoping to get (at least a small run) into print by the end of the year so we can have it alongside V1 for local conventions…. we’ll see what I can pull off here. That’s the goal, at any rate. For those collecting these smaller chapter editions and looking to support the comic however they can. (Appreciate you thank you thank you ;;A;; )

CHAPTER 3!

EXCITING EXCITING. Okay so now that I am out of the inking trenches on FANGS AND ALL my goal is to reread the Augustine Chapter 3 script and start working on thumbnails. The two of us, once this graphic novel is done, are on a strict NO-WORK-DRAW break for the rest of the year (desperately needed) but we’re hoping to hit the ground running nice and refreshed in January with Harpy on pencils so I’m hoping to move all of the gruntwork out of the way and finalise our workflow to make next year nice and smooth. We’re excited for this chapter. It’s gonna introduce the last of our big main players and re-establish character dynamics (or establish… neeewww dynamics). We get to see everyone again, our bounty hunters, the whole August Crew and perhaps some secrets with Tanto …. hmmmm.

We’re looking at a loose tentative release of the first scene by the end of January BUT we’ll be back and forth here letting you know if that changes and as the season progresses, be able to give you a proper DATE for the release of the next scene.

PHEW okay. I think that’s all for now. If you have any comments, or questions (for us OR the Augustine Cast) feel free to toss ’em below…. maybe we’ll scribble up some funky little answers to any questions asked of our cast. It’ll be a nice warmup before jumping into pages.

Hey everyone!!
So, as we mentioned in our previous update, we’re going to be posting Augustine by scene going forward. It’ll give us a much more flexible schedule considering all the projects we’ve got going on and will (hopefully) make things a lot more satisfying for readers to get a fully realised update. We’ve been pretty good about only taking breaks at the end of scenes but this way we also don’t have to keep scrambling to fulfill a buffer that’s slowly running out while we’re in the middle of paid contracts.

Augustine is a real passion project! We’re determined to see it through to the end so now that the two of us know how to manage our workflow a bit better we figured we’d tackle webcomics in a different way than the norm. We can’t all work the same, you know?

Plus it makes it easier for us to yell and scream about a new update for a few days before dropping it and returning to the shadows to make… More Comics.

ALL THAT BEING SAID. WOW… look at chapter 2! Done in all her glory! If you’ve been following us this far, you’ll be happy to know that Winter’s finished the script for chapter 3 and its OUGHGHG its a good one. We’re over the fucking moon about it ;>

Unfortunately you might have to wait until January for the next scene drop and the start of the new chapter. We’re spending the rest of the summer working on Tas’ next graphic novel: The Curse of Blackwood Manor (title still pending). We’re SUPER excited to get into that one and while Tas is doing the bulk of the colouring by fall (hopefully) Winter’s going to edit the draft for Chapter 3 and get things rolling on thumbnails so we can actually get you a new scene by January…

…if you don’t hear from us in the fall um… maybe send someone to poke our carcasses… we might have fried in the summer heat along the way…

Maybe um… keep your eyes peeled… we’re going to be launching AUGUSTINE on Kickstarter in AUGUST (hehe) to help fund the print run of Chapter 2 (and maaaybe give us a little advance for Chapter 3 since uh… comics are a whole lot of work and doin’ ’em for free and sharing them with you, while SUPER REWARDING… s-sure doesn’t put food on the table. LOL)

Hey everyone~

Welcome to the brand new AUGUSTINE website! It’s been a bit of a mad-scramble getting this page up and ready and we’re (still) working on the end of Chapter 2 for those still waiting on that but I think this place is just about up and ready for people to check it out.

There’s a few things changing now that we’ve got a new place to post and the two of us have a better grasp on the way we work! Starting as of Chapter 3 we will be uploading pages in ‘scene’ batches (10-12 pages whenever we finish a ‘scene’ or instance) instead of updating the slow painstaking 1-2 times a week. It makes it easier for us to advertise through our newsletter and socials. And its just generally easier than maintaining a constant buffer. Plus it just feels nicer to have folks commenting on completed segments than bits and pieces of a scene still playing out. It’s also just MUCH easier on our schedule and this way we don’t have to feel (as) guilty about taking breaks after tossing bigger page batches your way. The way we see it its a win-win-win.

It’s also nice because we’re no longer on contract with Hiveworks we can pretty much make our own rules. They, admittedly, were never ones to super enforce it but it was still an obligation we prided ourselves on maintaining professionally all the same.

ANYWAY– we’ve got a fancy little blog~ We’ve got a funky little gallery set up for you to peruse all the extra art and doodles we’ve made of these guys. We’ve got a special little spot for ~Worldbuilding~ Lore and what have you SOOOO feel free to look around!

I’d LOVE to do Q&As with the characters sometime. Maybe I’ll set up a blog post for that too if folks want to ask our funky crew some funky questions~
